Happy Mother's Day

Dear Maya,

Happy Mother's Day to me!
I can't believe we've survived to tell :)

In honour of Mother's Day, I wanted to share a very special picture with you:

This is mummy's mummy, Lola Kathleen (nee Belgrave) Larrier when she was just nine months old.
Even though you still look sooo much like Daddy, I see some of her in you.
Happy Mother's day to both grandmothers who I know will be reading this very soon.

6.5 months- Swimming and brushing your teeth

Dear Maya,
is there no end to the fun you can have in your backyard?
Here you are in a 4-ft blow up pool that Daddy ordered on Amazon:

You've also been going to birthday parties and dancing up a storm:
(Here you are at neighbour Reggie's first birthday party)

And at home you now have your 4th tooth!  And it looks like more are on the way..
Here you are, standing.. yes standing in your jumperoo (without telephone books or mummy's surgical atlas under your feet) and brushing your teeth.  Wait a minute, which end goes in your mouth again?

Ok yes, that's better..

6 months- Growing, piercing ears, activities

Dear Maya,

It's been a while.
You have grown by leaps and bounds.
You survived a 10-day bout of diarrhoea, and in the middle of it, checked in at 98th percentile for height!  Your belly has grown nicely since the illness so I'm guessing your weight percentile is up from what's shown here as well:

So, on that special 6 month pediatrician visit, along with 3 vaccinations, you got.. you ears pierced!  Heart-wrenching tears by you, and a lot of gulps by me, but we did it, and here's the first picture I have of you once we returned home:
All smiles!!

you weren't quite yourself that day but overall you did very well.  Here's video showing all your bandages.  We had to clean and twirl your earrings 3 times/day for 10 days afterwards, which wasn't exactly your favourite thing, but we survived it.

Activity-wise, Daddy and I are getting the backyard ready for this wonderful weather.  Here are some ?Australian triangular shades, and a mosquito tent!  You can guess which of us bought each item.

Here's a zoom-in of the yard, and the pink blurry dot in the tent is.. you!  We have the porch swing and your swing on the left, and a new awning over that side of the garage appt to block the evening sun.

Here you are even more zoomed in..

And .. up close!
We have spent so many of your days here in the last month.

We're making it back to yoga.. sporadically but it feels sooo good when we get there.  You're doing upward dog here and just taking in all the other folks.

Daddy did his first triathlon since you came along- down in Kemah.  Although it was really a du-athlon as they had to cancel the biking due to overnight downpour the night before.  Ok and also we got there after Daddy had finished :)  We travelled with some of our favourite neighbours so we didnt' have to leave early with Daddy, and let's just say we were ready to leave home an hour earlier than we did.
